I have upgraded my laptop from an old mac to a new laptop with windows 11. I have tried a bunch of the mentioned bug fixes, but I am still having connection issues.
It will connect, but then after a short period of time then g sender will not allow jogging. I can disconnect, then try to reconnect and get the cannot connect to com port 3 issue. I have tried the reset g sender to default “fix” and that can temporarily connect for a while.
If the program is shut down or I disconnect the longmill the connection issues return.
I have tried to turn off all power saving settings and keep the laptop plugged in and that did not help.
I can hook up the old mac and not have any issues at all, so i think its something with the windows 11 or g sender.
Additionally, I bought the new laptop to run v carve pro, light burn, and install the new laser. G sender wont allow me to set min spindle speed to 0. It will automatically set to 1.
I have seen a fix to export then import the settings, but right now I’m continually resetting g sender.
Hello! First @HRan i would like to welcome you to the forum. Good folks, with sound advice. I am sure someone will pipe up and help you with your Windows problem. But for the heck of it, I’ll provide you my solution.
I stuck with the old Mac to run GSender. I did try to run a windows based laptop for GSender, and had a bunch of difficulties with it.
I purchased a refurbished laptop which runs windows 11 on it that I use for my design software. I output my g code to the cloud, where I pick it up on my Mac. Originally, I used a thumb drive and after a while just set it up on the cloud. I really like that approach. Honestly, if it were up to me, I would have never bought a windows laptop. As you know, Vetric software only runs on windows. I did try using parallels on my good Mac, but thought it was “clunky”.
I am sure someone will chime in and help with your problem. I don’t recall if you said you were using the laptop for design use? If so, I would personally avoid that while running your GSender and doing carvings. Even on my old Mac, I don’t play music while my machine is carving.
I wish you well and please take a moment to post what your solution is. It may help others who have a similar problem.
It does sound like a USB issue. I bought a powered USB hub. The hub has an external power supply. Hub to computer and my Longmill plus a few other things are plugged into that. I’ve had 0 interference issues since then.
