I’m using gSender 1.5 on my new alt mill. I am trying to get park set up correctly and my soft limits keep on stoping it from reaching a high z height in the back left corner.
It was easy enough to grab the location where I wanted park to be located, the error regarding soft limits is very confusing.
Homing is set to back left corner.
$20=1, so limits are enabled.
The behavior is this, I select park and it moves ~20mm up and soft limit is reached.??? What soft limit is affecting this?
Part of my confusion is I don’t understand the error message.
The exact error message is: ALARM:2 (Soft limit alarm. G-code motion target exceeds machine travel. Machine position retained. Alarm may be safely unlocked.)
I’m just not sure what limit is being exceeded?
I have the default limits for max travel on the alt mill.
I am ill equiped to answer any of your questions for I have no limit switches, have soft limits off and never updated gsender beyond version 1.2.
But I can direct you to some ready available info touching on the soft limit problem you seem to have, that might help nudge you in the right direction.
Hope you can destill the solution to your problem out of this.
I’ll echo what @Chucky_ott wrote, make sure you home the machine first before trying to set up the Parking location. If you set up Park without homing first, then it’s possible you set it up in a location that your machine can’t reach
