Safety height after tool change

Good morning! I’m fairly new to CNCing (about 3 months in). I recently made the change from UGS to gSender. I am enjoying it much more, the main reason I wanted to change was to be able to run the full GCODE (all the tool paths) and include the tool change code instead of running each tool path gcode individually.

However, something is wrong every time I do a tool change. The pop up will show me the code, give me the option to continue running the file or pause and change the tool. I pause and change the tool, set the Z with the probe again. When I go to resume the file, the bit doesn’t raise up to move it just moves and ends up scratching the surface of the board until it reaches its destination.

I am using Carbide Create to make the design and export the GCode. I have checked the retract height, its set it .5", on gSender I also checked the Safety Height, it’s set to .5" as well.

Can anyone point me in the right direction of what this could be or how to fix it? Thank you In advance.

Just commenting to see if anyone can offer any advice…

Hi @latenightdesigns for this aspect there isn’t any change we can really make unfortunately since while the file sending is paused it’s very hard to keep track of all the movements made manually so we can offset them when you resume.

What I recommend instead is that once you’re finished doing the tool change you manually lift the Z-axis of your machine up to a good and safe height before you resume running the job, and that should help take care of those movements :+1:
