LM2.5, SLB, Vectric. Cut 2 concentric circles with same cutter (1/4” Upcut Endmill). Used the AutoZero Touchplate (AZT) for Z setting for first circle - worked as it should. Same cutter, depth, etc., for second circle, second program. Used the AZT again, and it worked, but is it possible to save the Z-0 setting from the first cut to avoid the AZT process?
Just want to confirm. After Z-0 via AZT, display was 7mm for Z. Cut went as planned. After cut, at home position, display was 19mm for Z (safe height I assume). So, if I just run the next file, the S/W will handle the difference?
@Retiree It should, yes. Z0 has not changed. The position of the Z axis has. To be sure, simply click on go to Z0 and confirm that the bit is where you want it to be.
Update. Ran a small test. Three identical cuts in different positions. Used AZT Z-0 probe for first cut. Ran as expected. Once completed, ran second cut from the rest position of the first one - had some nervousness, but Z worked perfectly. For the third cut, clicked on “Go to Z0” from rest position, and yet again, it worked. So, either method works.
Many thanks - will save time on next job with repetitive cuts.
