I finally have remote control work in gSender (1.5.7)
iPnone 11, iOS18. I have a small Android tablet on the way to be my permanent remote.Love is a strong word, but I love the convenience when doing setups.
The big down is that the settings I have set in gSender on the computer aren’t present in the web interface. Specifically, the jog settings for Normal and Precise.
The units in or mm, remain
I need to reset them on my phone every time I use the remote interface.
If there is a fix, great, what is it? If it’s a bug, is it being worked on?
I’ve tried Safari, Chrome, and Firefox
@Kevin745 It looks like you are using gSender’s remote web interface. While I don’t have any experience with it, I briefly looked at it when looking for a remote option. While nice, I find that the zero/jog buttons are the same as on the computer GUI..and by that I mean too close together.
Anyways, an alternative to the web interface is using the Touch Portal application. You design the interface like you want, with the buttons you need and spaced like you want. It then uses the gSender shortcuts to control the CNC. One drawback is that it doesn’t read information from gSender, so you can’t display coordinates or other information on the tablet. But it is great during setup.
And there’s nothing preventing you from using the web interface and Touch Portal on the tablet.
There’s a post started by @gwilki on Touch Portal. I added some of my customizations to it earlier this week.
Thanks
I don’t have an issue with the button spacing at all.
I’m not looking to add another interface to what I have. I just want the settings to translate to the remote device, whatever it is. In this case, as of tomorrow, the Android tablet I spoke of.
We actually just finished implementing syncing settings to remote clients from the desktop client last week, and it should be part of the next Edge release (1.6.0-Edge-3) and come to Main shortly after that.
Maybe another issue or it’s just me. When using my phone to jog the machine sometimes in Precise mode in the Z axis, take my finger off the phone screen and the Z movement doesn’t stop. I have to hit the big red button, and start that move over.
Have run into that with gSender (non remote) as well. I always assumed queued key strokes.
I truly hope they fix that. I’ve driven a couple of bits into workpieces
