Shared folder on Gcontroler

\GCONTROL\Users\Sienci\Documents\Shared-files
i created a shared folder on my Gcontroler, it is asking for a password. to access the folder remotely.
i tried Sienci in the user and password field, did not work,

It should work with your login credentials. A lot of Windows users now use their Microsoft account and log in with a pin. Pretty sure you’ll need your Microsoft account and password.

I never switched for that reason. I want really secure online passwords but don’t want to type in 18 characters of gibberish just to SSH to the PC in the next room. Okay, mini rant about Window’s done!

Hope it works for you!

EDIT: I didn’t pay enough attention to the path you are sharing. I guess that the gControl has a Sienci user that it ships with. Not sure why those credentials don’t work if it’s a name and password not a pin.

When I used Windows I used the “map network drive” in file explorer. What I did was set a DHCP reservation for my design PC and then marked a folder as shared from the right click menu. Then on my gSender PC I mapped the drive. I don’t think the DHCP reservation is necessary, you can use the design PC’s name. The address that you need to enter in the gControl then looks like \\ip-address-or-pc-name\path\to\your\shared\folder. That’s how I did it anyway.

Hi Andrew,

I am a disaster with windows. I stuck with it because I don’t like to relearn a complete new operatijg system, like I didn’t like to part from my C64 and held onto it as if it was a lifeboat. I only went on board the windows train when my company started trading unused hours for pc stuff. —In 2001—
You can still say I am.. less passionate.. about these notC64’s.

Anyhooo, since that time I only learned the basics to operate and work with a PoorexcuseforaComputer. So I just found out you can share a map to others on the network directly. I worked with a webserver. Dumped my toolpathfile there and retrieved it at the machine. That was untill the remote function became available in G-sender and I could just load up the file directly into the machine via my design pc. If I have a headscrewedonbackwards-day, you can find me starting my cnc from there as well.

What is this magic you ask? LoOky here:

Disclaimer: Don’t mind me, I’m just out of bed and my misses calls me “Sir Quacksalot” in this state.

Thanks guys. great info and help…

I just created a shared folder and used “Sienci” for the username and no password. Worked fine. I shared the folder to “Everyone” and gave it read/write privileges.

As @Chucky_ott mentioned, you can make your own. See all the steps to do that here:
