Still waiting for my cnc

Still waiting for my cnc altmill. Was shipped out on 2-6-25 and still no delivery. Everyone was fast to take my money. But sloppy service after you pay. If I don’t get mine in few days I’m asking for full refund before I lose my credit card protection.

Hi Duece,

Welcome to the forum.

A good 2 years back I had my order held up by customs because they wanted my company number. At that time I did not ha e my own company so could not comply. Customs, burocrats the are, could not deviate and threatened to return to sender within a few days. At that time I reached out to sienci and they fixed the problem swiftly.

I’m sorry to hear that your delivery service is stalled. I have read in the forum that more packaged get delayed due to uncertainties with tarrifs and politics and stuff . The problem however is not with sienci. They did their part.

Have you reached out to anyone, being sienci or the delivery company?

Just checked the ordernstatur page at sienci and they have an allert on delays.

That wont help speed up things, but not knowing is worse than knowing.

Yes I reached out few times but seems no one knows nothing. I’m not blaming sienci but they know that this is a problem why sell or ship to the USA. $$ ? While the customer that paid the operating capital up front has to suffer.

The problem is at your end. If you’re concerned about it, contact your government officials. They re the ones who created this problem in the first place.

Look I get the frustration. I have been there and it sucks, but directing that frustration towards sienci seems unproductive at best. It’s beyond their power to change the situation.

There have been more peeps that had delayed packages that came through.

I don’t know if they pressured the posting service, but I bet some did. That’s where the buttons are that needs pressing. I tried that route more than once, but hit a wall I could not get through the burocracy. I was lucky sienci was able to pull it through, but I never felt they were the problem, nor that I was entitled to anything. I took the gamble of importing a machine that only companies could import to my country. It backfired. My bad, eventhough I did not know the rules.

I’m sure your altmill will come through and if not, sienci will not abandon you. That’s not behaviour I’ve seen sienci conduct towards their costumers. They go above and beyond.

Hey Deuce, I know that frustration—it’s never fun to wait for something you’ve already paid for, especially with no clear timeline. Curious, when did you actually place the order? You mentioned it was shipped on 2/6/25, but knowing the purchase date will cast light on how long this has really been for CC protection. Also, did you ever get a firm delivery estimate from the Sienci , and/or shipping carrier? Did you have any luck contacting the shipping carrier directly for resolve?

Placed the order October 28 2024. It was calling at first to be in my hands in January 2025. Then was a problem with delay with a strike. So it was shipped in Feb. called ups you can’t get a hold of a living person. Everything is pushed to a computer. I’m only 7 hours of a drive to sienci. Came to USA and went back to Canada. The more it stays in the system the more damage will accumulate. That’s what I will have to deal with next. Very frustrating

Just to clarify, I don’t work for Sienci—I’m simply a recent customer who spent over $5,000 USD on their equipment and am eagerly awaiting my order in the coming months. Naturally, I’m curious about these delays since they may affect me as well. Your situation sounds incredibly frustrating, especially with the package being returned to Canada. Given everything that’s happened, I’d consider reaching out to your credit card company to explore your options and determine how much more time you can allow before taking further action.

What does Sienci having your money have anything to do with it ? The issue is with the shipping company and perhaps US Customs. It should come as no surprise that shipments to the US are taking longer. There was a Canada Post strike just before Christmas, major snow storms that shut everything down this week. And not to mention the threat of tariffs on imports from Canada - perhaps resulting in many people rushing to place their order of whatever product they are purchasing. Heck, at least yours has shipped. I have to wait until May for mine.

FWIW, their FAQ lists a 20% re-stocking fee and you pay the return shipping if you cancel after an item has shipped.

I will admit that paying in full for an item that will only be shipped several months in the future is annoying. They should be accepting deposits and payment in full only when the item is ready to ship. But right now, that’s a “me” problem, not a “you” problem.

Ultimately, the responsibility for shipping falls on the manufacturer—they select the carrier, arrange the shipment, and are accountable for ensuring the product reaches the customer.

For those facing excessive delays, it’s important to remember that consumer protections exist for a reason. If a product has been paid for but not delivered within a reasonable timeframe, credit card protections and other consumer rights can help mitigate financial losses, including potential return fees. Customers shouldn’t bear the burden of shipping issues—they’ve fulfilled their part by paying for the product and simply expect to receive it.

I agree with all that, but for international shipments, you also have to deal with your respective country’s Customs. That is very likely where the delay is right now.

In case everyone here has not read this, here is an update on the UPS site:

" Due to recently implemented tariffs resulting in changes to the U.S. import declaration processes, shipments from Canada to the U.S. may experience delays. The UPS Service Guarantee has been suspended effective February 4th, 2025, and until further notice, for all UPS delivery services to the U.S.

Contingency plans are in place to help ensure that shipments arrive at their final destinations as quickly as possible."

Don’t know how they can charge 20% restocking fee if you never got the cnc machine.

My credit company gave me 6 months time to make a charge back. In march will be 5 months of waiting. My order got delayed in January so that’s how I got in this spot. I’m a very patient person but all what’s going on is ridiculous. Hope you don’t have to deal with none of problems.

Thanks! Fingers crossed for both of us. Of course, I have some concerns, but overall, I have high hopes for Sienci and my order. I’d be lying if I said this didn’t feel a bit like a Kickstarter—especially compared to other offerings—but everything I’ve seen so far looks promising, so I’ll stay optimistic until given a reason not to.

So to help me understand, does this mean that all UPS shipments from Sienci from Canada to the USA are on hold and what does the contingency plans mean. I am sure everyone at Sienci and UPS are scrambling due to the tariff issue, so just trying to understand. I figure I am in for a long wait as I only ordered my Altmill on Feb 1st. Thanks in advance for any updates.

@bpwilly I have no idea. Your best bet may be to contact UPS. Or, on Tuesday, you can contact Sienci to see if they have any update from UPS. (Monday is a holiday in Ontario.)
I’m sorry that I cannot help. I do not work for Sienci.
