Trying to run a file with a tool change in it for the first time today. I’m running the Standard Re-zero wizard and when I resume the program at the end of the wizard, it sends the machine in rapid mode to X-3.619, Y 31.575 which is out of the working area of the machine. Now this happens to be the correct last position of the machine in metric units, but the machine is moving in inch mode at this point.
From the console I see:
(Returning to initial position)
ok
G21
ok
G90 G20 G0 X-3.619 Y31.575
So it sets to metric units and then in the next line it converts to inches, but it has the initial position in metric values. Is this a bug or am I missing something in the settings? I’m running 1.6.2.
console info - tool change.txt (482 Bytes)
I’m attaching the last 50 lines from the console if that is helpful. I am also noticing the next two lines after the XY move are a Z move to 15.239 and a feed rate setting of 1016. Again these are the correct numbers in metric but they are proceeded by a G20 so they will be executed as inch movements.
Your console output does look like the saved return position is in mm but gets sent after G20, so it runs as inches. The 1.6.3 release notes say the pos and mpos variables are now always returned in mm regardless of $13, so this might be related. Do you have report in inches ($13=1) turned on? And does it still happen on 1.6.4?
$13 was set to 0. I changed it to 1 and the wizard runs correctly. I guess if I run a metric program with a tool change, I’ll have to remember to change $13 back to 0. Seems like the wizard should take care of that kind of house keeping, but I’m happy to have it working now. Thanks for the suggestion.
