Would it be possible to add a configuration option to allow X/Y motion from a game controller joystick to be variable speed proportional to joystick position?
This is already possible on the latest version of gSender, v.1.5.6. Depending on how hard you push the joystick in a given direction, the speed of jogging in the set axis will change; the current jog preset values, including the feedrate, are taken into account as well.
Hope that helps, unless you are suggesting a different kind of behaviour?
We did find this to be correct after posting the OM.
We still are unable to get smooth motion regardless of the values set for threshold and overide, but it does get a bit better.
That said, we found a major βBugβ. We have tried to report this, but uploading of the video keeps failing, thus we can not open a ticket on this.
If you try moving BOTH X and Y at the same time, the system locks on and jogging continues even when the joystick is released. Motion continues until either the E-Stop is pressed, or the βStopβ button on the console is pressed.
Thanks for the report. I wasnβt able to replicate the continuous jog, never stopping bug, but I think we can make some improvements to the overall logic to prevent that from happening. Will hopefully get those improvements and fixes in by the next version release ![]()
Just wanted to mention here, in our latest edge release, 1.6.0-Edge-3, a community member was nice enough to add a feature where you can toggle between fixed speed or dynamic speed, meaning if you are having difficulty with dynamic jogging with the thumbsticks on your setup, you can disable it and have it just run a long jog command instead.
