I need to buy an e-stop button and I don’t see them listed separately on the Sienci website.
I see plenty of them on Amazon but none have the plug to connect to the controller, nor do they include the wiring.
Can someone please point me in he best direction for this?
I’ve also reached out to Sienci, but I seem to recall some guys had custom setups that they preferred over the stop button.
@immikemurphy No apology needed, but tks. I believe that the estop for an SLB is different from the one for the longboard. In fact, my original longboard did not have an estop at all. I’m not sure what version Sienci introduced it.
The long board has a two wire connection to connect a emergency switch to. It can be anything from a light switch to a regular emergency switch with a big red button as long as one of the contacts is a normaly closed one that stays closed while the switch is in that state and becomes normaly open when pressed or switched and stays in that status untill unlocked or switched again.
The longboard has no function keys included in the emergency button. Some function keys are included in the unit itself though. I do nkt believe they are programmable, like the funtion keys one the slb emergency button.
Good news is, that you can source a simple emergency switch from anywhere without breaking the bank.
The wiring is straight forward, since it’s a switch that does not have polarity, wire the emergency switch to the lb top con ector. If it does not have that connector, you might have the longboard gwilki ks talking about.
If needed you can short the connector with a wire to simulate a emergency button in its active state without needing a actual emergency button. One could choose to indeed have an alternative way to shut the machine down, like I do -besides having an emergency stop- I am able to switch off the power to my machine via a switch in my office, including the router.
The emergency stop button connected to the longboard will not address the router, leaving it running while you have an emergency. This was not an acceptable safety for me, so I added an extra safety switch (light switch) away from the machine to have a way out safety besides the standard red button at the machine. (Some situations leave you not wanting to approach the machine to press a button tnat will only disable part of the machine.)
