Windows cannot connect (shared file network) ::SOLVED::

Hello everyone!

I’m new to Sienci, but not new to computers. I have purchased a GControl panel and I am trying to ‘share’ a folder within my network. Now i’ve done this before because OneDrive was just driving me nuts and didnt want to use it anymore. I use the Share file with my XTool and my old tablet that I no longer use because I got the control panel. So what have I tried.

Well, I have tried the typical File sharing that windows has to offer like I have before. Oddly enough it didnt work.

I have tried to Map a network drive and that didnt seem to work either.

So I decided to go straight to the source in the resources on the site and noticed there is a ‘how-to’ set up file sharing.

I started over, followed the steps exactly which I previously did with my file sharing knowledge’ish. I made it all the way to the bottom before trying it on my main PC. I followed the instructions on my main PC where I shared other files with my old tablet for my CNC and Xtool laser.

Windows cannot access \\GCONTROL\… so forth and so forth. Now Originally I just made a folder under documents as CNC_files. then I decided to follow the path EXACTLY like the how to did with Shared-files. I copied the path provided after restarting and naming the folder Shared-files and tried it all over again. I got the same error. Says Check the spelling of the name. otherwise, there might be a problem with your network. To try to identify and resolve network problems, click diagnose. I did click it and it took me down a LONG rabbit hole of change this, add that, type this into REGedit ( I know the terrors of RegEdit).

I’ve turned off my firewalls on both systems. Went into my Asus router and turned off the firewalls. Typed in the IPaddress \\192.168.50.55 which is my IP for my device on my network. It has to be the network because I cant access it via the IP.

Long story short, anyone else run into this issue and fixed it? I’ve worked on this for 6 hours and Im at a loss at this point. I’ve gone through the windows files to activate file sharing, both my devices are on the private network, I can see GControl on my main PC but when I click it to access it, I get the windows cannot access \\GCONTROL\Users\Sienci\Documents\Shared-files

taking a break, love to hear some problem solving.

Thanks

Hmmm. Looks like you did everything I would have tried. Did you ever need to enter a username and password to access the share? I think for me, it was Sienci and blank password.

The “net use” command can also be useful as well to connect/map network resources.

Yeah I tried that on the panel. There wasnt a user ID or password, I had those options turned off since its a private network. Im going to try and log out of Microsoft since they ruin everything and sign in under the local account. I’ll see if that’ll work.

I’ll let y’all know

Thx

::edit:: did not work lol

I have found the Fix. Odd find but this was a setting that changed apparently in an update. Here is a Video describing the fix.

It worked!

Thanks

I tried to post a link to the video but it wouldnt let me.

The solution is on Youtube by “Undiluted Tech”; search for the title of the video “Fix Path Not Found Error 0x80070035 Windows 11 Pro 24H2”. He does an excellent video that resolved the problem in a few minutes.

I believe that fix allows you to connect without a username and password. I’m (almost) certain if you had mapped the share by specifying a username and password, you would have been able to connect.
