I just put 1.2.1 on my windows 11 64 Bit laptop and needed to run a profile toolpath for two .25 holes at .7" deep using a 1/8" endmill. I Z 0 on the material surface and run the toolpath but it only goes .38 deep. Once it goes back to the home position I click Go To 0 and it stops about a half inch above the surface. I also tried a pocket toolpath and the same thing happened. I am making locater holes for dowels when I eventually run a tiling toolpath. I have a longmill 30 x 30 and there were no other issues running a profile toolpath for a few cutouts I did before this issue came up. Appreciate any help.
Are you using the collet reducer adapter or the 1/8 procession collet? When I used the reducer adapter I always had trouble with it slipping down or being pushed up further into the collet.
Having said that did you rule out the bit slipping in the collet? You can mark your bit at the collet, run a toolpath and check to see if the mark is still in the same spot
In addition to what @Swinly suggested I would check for slipping in the coupler for the Z axis if your machine is a MK2 or the two pulleys for the Z axis if you have a MK1.
And welcome to the group @jkunda, lots of nice folks here willing to help each other out.
@jkunda In addition to the previous advice, be sure to ensure that you are not bottoming out your Z axis. If that happens, it will lose the Z0 location.
@gwilki I have a feeling thatβs what it is. Will check in the morning and get back to the group.
Yep, that was it. One look at the Z axis this morning and found it was all the way down so it did bottom out. A Bosch handheld and short .125 bit do not jive together. Will use the longer 3/16 bit.
