I recently upgraded my MK2.5 48 x 30 Longmill to closed loop motors. Everything went well but my spindle wouldn’t run automatically. It did on my old SLB board but the SLB-EXT wants nothing to do with it. I restored the defaults and now when I go to home the machine, the z axis moves about a inch then stops and triggers an Alarm 8. It is no where near any limit switches. Checked all the wiring and even disconnected all the limited switches from the board. Still the same issue, Hit home Z moves slightly then triggers the alarm. All the axis’s move just fine but when a homing is initiated the problem presents itself. Tried to solve one problem now I have two.
Any thoughts on this would be appreciated.
First, make sure the dip switches on the motors are set properly as per Closed Loop Upgrade - Add-ons
To troubleshoot homing issues, it’s easier if you home each axis separately. To do that, enable the toggle just below the coordinates. The X0, Y0, and Z0 buttons will change to HX, HY, and HZ. Pressing those buttons will home the corresponding axis.
Alarm codes are found here: Alarms List – Sienci Labs
For Alarm 8, check the wiring (which you’ve done) and the dip switch settings. As per the article, there is also the pull off distance you can change in gSender.

Hi thanks!
It turned out that when I did the default it blew out all the settings on homing, ie direction pin invert etc. I started with the z and worked my way back. Its great now except I have to deal with the original problem regarding the communication with the VFD. PWNC was helpful with providing me all the settings but when I go to input them into g sender it either says out of range or parameter not available.
