Hi all. I busted my Z sensor on first movements when homing for the first time. I obviously had it to far in. And my router smashed up to the top. Going to see if I can get a replacement sensor. But, is there a better gauge than the instructions. They say to tighten the sensor until it bottoms out on the screw, then unscrew 2 turns. Which, I thought I did.
I just received it this week. The instructions said to put all the bump stops on all the other sensors except the Z sensor. I just followed the instructions best I could.
Looks like your supposed to raise the Z all the way up before you screw it in until it bottoms out.
Slide the Z-axis gantry up to its highest position until it can’t move further. Thread the inductive sensor loosely through the back of the Z-axis assembly until the sensor bottoms out and locates inside the plate, do not tighten this further.
Next, loosen the sensor by 2 turns. This will locate the depth of the sensor correctly to ensure it triggers at the correct distance.
That’s for an AltMill anyway. You didn’t mention what machine you have.
Sorry, it is an Altmill
