Error 14 on first tool change gSender 1.4.11

Altmill, SLB, gSender 1.4.11. When I go to Start after setting zeros, gSender sends error 14. Z moves up, but spindle stays at x and y position. Dialog for tool probe appears on screen, but error 14 prevents any movement. Have to clear the error and Home machine. After homing and starting job again, no issues. Just starting in 1.4.11.

Hey J,

Here’s a topic that goes into the same issue. There was a possible solution offered. The op didn’t return to say if it worked or not, but I figure, if it didn’t, there would be a return post to ask for more possible solutions.

Maybe you can see if that theory is correct?

Thanks, I will give that a try in the next day or two and reply,

Back from Christmas break! Happy New Year. I haven’t found an ultimate solution yet. I messed with so many settings, that I eventually reset to original setting and I’m working through step by step again. One thing I did find, I have everything on one power strip, and I was shutting down and turning on Spindle and SLB at the same time. Now I shut down the SLB at the board and when I power on, I wait until the power unit for the Spindle is ready then I power up SLB. it helps sometimes, biggest issue I have is that I can’t replicate the error consistently, sometimes it starts up with no error 14 and sometimes I get Error 14 one after the other. Homing helps, most times, and again, once I get past the initial errors it runs fine, and it’s never errored out while running a program.

Alarm 14 during startup comes on usually when you don’t turn on the SLB and spindle in the correct order. The controller and VFD need to “handshake” and if the conditions aren’t met, even if they’re on at the same time they won’t go through with the handshake.

Assuming the SLB is plugged into power but turned OFF.
Plug spindle into power, the VFD should blink with red text
Then turn on the SLB using the power toggle

Hope that helps, otherwise feel free to send in a ticket

Thank you @kellyz ! I have been plagued with the Alarm 14 and when I turn the VFD on first then the SLB- no Alarm14.
