X32 to SLB upgrade

Hi team!

I’m moving from an Openbuilds x32 Blackbox controller to the SLB next week, and I’m curious if anyone has done this move here.

If so, any tips, tricks, or gotchas would be appreciated!

There have been a few topics on fitting none sienci machines with an SLB.
Here’s one concerning an x32. Chriss came in and commented on a simular question as yours.

Gerber 404 ( 4x4 ) Retrofit

I have two Gerber 404 routers from 1997. I have already gutted the electronics, DC servos needing 3 phase power, and am starting over. Would this be a good choice a a controller. I will need to use high torque nema 23 motors and have started building a Mach3/4, UCCNC controller, but I am intrigued by this having the 4th axis capability. I have made a similar post at Openbuilds as I currently us a Blackbox X32 on my Onefinity. Looking for input. Any would be appreciated.

You might find a topic about fitting an SLB o a realy ancient hobby machine interesting aswell. It might not all go smooth and some technical knowhow might come in handy, but with a wee stamina, you can get things going.

@timarland, as @Spamming_Eddie mentioned we’ve had many conversions to SLB now from many other CNC/controller models with great success. I can’t recall if I’ve seen documentation for the X32 specifically, but all the more reason where if you run into any snags just post your questions here and if you note any sticky points report back here too. This was done by a prior user for the xPro V5 which meant I could go in and make much more official guidance for those controllers.
